Queen Anne's Lace Study

For the last year, we've been studying the stages of Queen Anne's Lace. We were a bit disappointed in spring. There really was very little grow to find, but this summer...
See the purple flowers in the middle?

That is characteristic of Queen Anne's Lace.

The root and leaves smell like carrot.

Look at the tiny hairs on the stems.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,

  1. Wow! We have something either like that or verry similar! We call it wild carrot. Not so romantic as your name!

    1. Wild carrot is another name for it too. They may be the same. :)

    2. Yeah, maybe... I got curious so I had a little poke around for info on it, and I found this site very informative, http://www.carrotmuseum.co.uk/queen.html, what do you think?

  2. I'm always looking for ideas for nature study - this looks like a good idea. Think we'll be searching for some Queen Anne's Lace on our next walk!

    1. It is an old stand-by of ours. Although when we studied it a few years ago it was just in the summer. It was pretty neat to do a year long study.
